P.P.O. (Preferred Provider Organization) - A dental plan where the patient can go to any dentist they choose and pay regular dental insurance fees, or go to a preferred dentist and receive discounted dental insurance fees.

Primary Plan - When the patient is insured by two plans, the plan that is billed first is the primary plan.

Palate - Dental term with two meanings: A father who is not on time. Or the roof of the mouth.

Panorex X-ray - A dental X-ray that shows all the teeth on one film.

Pedodontics (Pedo) - The treatment of or dealing with the treatment of children's teeth.

Periapical X-ray - A dental x-ray that shows the whole tooth both above and below the gumline.

Periodontics - Treatment of or about diseases of the gum or jaw bones.

Permanent Molars - Terms for the first, second and third molars.

Permanent teeth - Adult teeth. (Should be covered under most cheap dental insurance plans.)

Plaque - A sticky film on the teeth. If it is not removed by brushing and flossing it can harm your guns.

Predetermination - When the dentest notifies the dental insurance company of the treatment before it begins. The dental insurance company then estimates the benefits that it will pay for the dentest's dental treatments.

Prophylaxis - Dental cleaning and search of the teeth by a dentest. Cheap dental insurance plan treatment.

Prosthodontics - Dental terms dealing with the replacement of missing teeth.

Provider, dental - The dentist who plans to render dental treatment to the patient. (Cheap dental insurance.)

R.V.S. (Relative Value Schedule) - Dental procedures are given a point value relative to its degree of difficulty. The procedures are also given a dollar amounts that are multiplied by the point value to determine what the dental plan insurance company will pay for the dental term procedure.

Restorative Procedures - Performed to restore a missing part of a tooth. Some insurance company plans only consider the fillings to be "restorative", while others consider the dental crowns, fillings, bridges and dentures to be restorative.

Root Canal - Dental procedure where the nerve of the tooth is removed from the canal inside the tooth's root and replaced with a filling. Discount detal plans.

Secondary Plan - When a patient is insured by two plans, the plan that is billed second is the secondary plan.

Uniclaim Form - The universal claim form that can be used at most dental offices instead of waiting for the patient to bring in their insurance company's form. Insurance companies that want to make prosesing a clame difficult for the patient will often not accept uniclaim forms.

U.C.R. (Usual, Customary & Reasonable) - The doctor's usual fee or a higher fee incured by special circumstances.

Vergin Teeth - Teeth that have no fillings. Or teeth that have never been laid. They tend to be crancky.

Wisdom Teeth - The 3rd molar, this is the 8th tooth from the center of mouth to the back that are often impacted (obstructed from poping out) and have to be cut out and extracted. Discount dental plans.

Waiver of Deductible - Insurance term for a provision in a dental plan that excludes some types of dental procedures from the dental plan's deductible and charged to your cheap dental insurance plans.
